 'THE ART VAN SHARE YOUR PARADE STORY CONTEST'
 INVITES EVERYONE TO SHARE IN THANKSGIVING PARADE FUN
 DETROIT, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The "all new" 1992 Michigan Thanksgiving Parade invites parade fans of all ages to actively participate in the joy of the season.
 The Parade Company, producers of the Thanksgiving Parade, has teamed with leading corporate supporter Art Van Furniture for the third consecutive year to develop a new program called "The Art Van Share Your Parade Story Contest."
 This contest has been created to invite everyone to share their favorite Parade memories in the form of a story or a poem, with the winners seeing their parade fantasy come true as they will be invited to march with their favorite characters or ride on a favorite float.
 "Michigan residents have enjoyed this parade for 65 years," said Art Van Elslander, chairman of Art Van Furniture. "Now, they all have an opportunity to write what this has meant to them. I think this contest will help us save some important history about a very precious commodity in this state. From youngster to senior citizen, I think everyone has a special memory about this parade."
 Participation is through an essay contest in which people are invited to describe their most memorable parade experience in 200 words or less. Entries may be dropped off at any of the 19 Art Van Furniture locations or mailed to The Parade Company. All entries must be received by Nov. 1, 1992, and can be mailed to: The Art Van Share Your Parade Story Contest, c/o The Parade Company, 9600 Mount Elliott, Detroit, MI 48211.
 Winners will be announced Nov. 12. There will be 12 winners in all -- three each as selected from four different age categories, including ages 5-9, 10-14, 15-18 and 19 and older. Each of the 12 winners will receive "red carpet" parade hospitality, including:
 -- A chance to participate in the parade by either riding on a float or marching as a costumed character;
 -- Tickets to a special pre-parade breakfast for each winner and their immediate families;
 -- A personal photo session with Santa;
 -- A family pack of VIP parade tickets;
 -- A family pack of VIP tickets to The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade High School Band Competition held the evening prior to the parade;
 -- A family pack of tickets to the Indoor Carnival at Cobo Center, which opens immediately following the parade;
 -- A family pack of Pin & Win goodies, which includes a souvenir parade pin, discount coupons, plus a chance to win valuable prizes including a new Ford Ranger, trips, jewelry and more; and
 -- 20 tickets for friends and family members to attend Santa's Studio Tours in The Parade Studio, held two weekends following the parade.
 In addition, Art Van Furniture will award one grand prize for each of the four age categories. Each winner in the 5-9, 10-14 and 15-18 divisions will earn a $500 scholarship. The winner of the 19-and-older category will win a $500 savings bond.
 For the first time ever, The Parade Company has developed a parade theme song which kicks off the Art Van essay contest. "It's a Parade," written by Dan Yessian and Curtiss Boone, was produced exclusively for The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade.
 IT'S A PARADE
 (The Thanksgiving Day Parade Song)
 Remember a wonderful time
 Filled with memories
 Remember the moments that shine
 In a world of fantasy
 A special place - a special day
 Where people get together
 A magical time - a dream away
 Now what else could be better
 It's a Parade - a celebration
 Join the fun and fascination
 A spectacle - a sight to behold
 Spirits are high in a city of pride
 It's a Parade - a time for sharing
 Laughter, cheering, time for caring
 A dance in the street, with a Michigan beat
 The Thanksgiving Parade - it's a Parade
 (ooo It's a Parade)
 You can feel the excitement comin' your way
 Feel the rhythm in your heart
 What a wonderful day
 It's a Parade - a celebration
 Bring out the smiles and the jubilation
 A dream come true - and comin' your way
 The Thanksgiving Parade - It's a Parade
 The Thanksgiving Parade
 Come join the Parade
 It's a Parade
 C'mon everybody
