Byline: COLM DONNELLY

THE leader of the SDLP has led tributes to a party councillor who died suddenly at the weekend.

Margaret Ritchie said the whole community was saddened by the passing of Fermanagh representative Gerry Gallagher.

He had been a longstanding councillor and was a member of the Fermanagh District Policing Partnership.

Mr Gallagher, 62, also represented Fermanagh Council on the Housing Council.

Ms Ritchie said: "He will be sorely missed by the whole party and particularly by his local government colleagues. "Our sympathy and prayers go to his family at this sad time."

Mr Gallagher's remains will be removed to Mary Queen of Peace Church, Garrison, Co Fermanagh, this evening and he will be buried after funeral Mass tomorrow at 11am.
