'STRATEGIC BASE' FOR COMPANIES ENTERING JAPANESE MARKET; JETRO BUSINESS SUPPORT CENTER IN TOKYO WILL PROVIDE FACILITIES AND SERVICES

NEW YORK, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- American companies seeking to enter the Japanese market will have a significant new resource available to them at minimal cost when the JETRO Business Support Center (BSC) begins operation in Tokyo on March 25.
The BSC is the latest addition to the comprehensive series of activities and programs Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) carries out in order to promote imports into Japan. It is specifically intended to support business people from the U.S. and other countries in their efforts to enter the Japanese market.
Through the BSC, JETRO will offer a wide range of facilities and services. For example, office space and equipment as well as rooms for holding meetings will be made available free of charge on a temporary basis. Business information and advice will be provided at the BSC Help Desk, which will be staffed on a full-time basis by expert consultants. Reference materials and business-related publications will be available for use at the Center's Business Library, and access will also be provided to trade-related databases maintained by JETRO.
The JETRO Business Support Center, which will be located in the Akasaka Twin Tower building (2-17-22 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo) just a few minutes walk from JETRO headquarters, is expected to become a valuable strategic base for overseas firms trying to establish a foothold in the Japanese market.
In the United States, JETRO maintains offices in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta and Denver. Business people interest in utilizing the Center should contact the nearest JETRO office well in advance of their departure to Japan in order to make the necessary arrangements.
