'S.W.A.T. PRO' MAKES BI-MONTHLY DEBUT AS THE
ULTIMATE SOURCE OF VIDEO GAME TIPS AND TACTICS
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Young video game players now have a source for a little expertise that can make a big difference in how well they play the game -- S.W.A.T.PRO, a bi-monthly publication of tips and tactics. S.W.A.T. (short for Secret Weapons and Tactics) was originally introduced as a feature in GamePro magazine. Its immense popularity prompted the production of special supplementary issues which have proven to be highly successful.
"Our S.W.A.T.PRO special issues have been consistently popular with video gamers of all ages," said John Rousseau, publisher for both publications. "We felt the overwhelming response of readers warranted a bi-monthly publication that would complement the comprehensive coverage of the video game market as featured in GamePro magazine.
"A recent GamePro editorial survey showed that video game playing tips and tactics are what over three-quarters of respondents want to read more about," continued Rousseau. "S.W.A.T. is what our readers read first in every issue of GamePro, and it's the feature they consider most useful for gaming."
S.W.A.T.PRO will focus exclusively on video game tips, hints, and gameplay strategies. A "Game Busters" feature reveals the end sequences of some of the most challenging carts around and shows gamers how they can beat the final "boss" character. To satisfy "role-play" enthusiasts, S.W.A.T.PRO will also feature in-depth strategies on the newest role-playing titles. In addition, those gamers who enjoy going head-to-head against their peers will be able to submit the top scores for inclusion on the ProChallenge Board.
The next issue of S.W.A.T.PRO will be available May 26 at a $4.95 cover price. Yearly subscriptions to the publication will be available for $24.95. The magazine will be distributed nationwide with an initial circulation of 150,000.
GamePro magazine is a monthly publication serving the video game cartridge market and targeting young people ages 8 to 20. Rated a "cut above the rest" by its readers, the magazine is designed to showcase leading-edge video game products and features hard-hitting editorial and dynamic graphics.
