'Rehabilitating youth, nurturing creativity for nation-building is of utmost importance'.

Manama, Nov. 26 (BNA): On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al Dossari today opened the Bahrain Universities Model United Nations Conference (BUMUN).

The event is organised by the General Organisation for Youth and Sports (GOYS), under the kind auspices of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

Al Dossari delivered a speech on the occasion in which he praised GOYS' role and the sincere efforts it is exerting for the sake of rehabilitating young people and honing their creativity to be able to assume leadership positions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

"These efforts also fulfill the hopes of the people for progress and prosperity, realize youngsters' aspirations for a promising future and prepare a generation of young leaders who can perceive well what is going on in the corridors of the United Nations", he explained.

He congratulated GOYS for the kind initiative it has taken for the 11th executive year, hosting this important training practice for the benefit of the students of the universities of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council and brotherly Arab countries, in a step aimed to consolidate the bonds of friendship between the young men and women, the sons and daughters of this country, amid the many circumstances that the region is currently going through.

He noted that the topics chosen for this training module are amongst the most important issues on the national, regional and international arenas as they cover social, cultural, scientific, security, economic and political areas as well as issues relating to women, youth, cutting-edge science and technology and environment and most importantly the climate change, with all the serious challenges it poses.

The assistant minister paid tribute to the conference organisers for the sound arrangement, and praised the advanced role being played by GOYS and its officials through such educative practices, preparation of young people and providing them with these institutional drills.
