'Perfect match' describes new pact between Salvesen and Weight Watchers International.

A new agreement between Christian Salvesen and Weight Watchers International, a subsidiary of H.J. Heinz Co., was described by the President of Christian Salvesen, Cyriel Godderie as a "Perfect match because Christian Salvesen, had the ability to grow along with the success envisioned by Weight Watchers International for their line of both ambient and frozen Personal Cuisine food products."

He added "Weight Watchers International wanted to maintain as much control over the delivery of their Personal Cuisine food products as possible by contracting one company to provide these services on a nationwide basis.

The recently-signed agreement has Christian Salvesen providing a national store-door delivery system for the distribution of Weight Watchers Personal Cuisine food products to their retail weight loss centers.

We will be providing Weight Watchers International with dedicated equipment which will perform the 'identical' function at many Salvesen locations in order to bring Weight Watchers Personal Cuisine food products to each retail weight loss center on a once, twice, or three times a week basis," he explained.

He added, "A key feature of this agreement is that Weight Watchers International will retain full ownership of the product, something which most other distributors were unable to offer in forming a side-by-side partnership with Weight Watchers International."

Under the agreement, Christian Salvesen is providing only distribution services, with Weight Watchers International maintaining full control of inventory, including title to the product.

According to Godderie, Weight Watchers International "was not interested in a distributorship mentality where ownership of the product was required before a company could deliver the product."

"We share the same vision pertaining to future growth, according to Mr. Godderie. The plan is to utilize existing Christian Salvesen facilities on a nationwide basis to bring product to the Weight Watchers International retail weight loss centers in a timely fashion.

Diane Owen, V.P. finance & Logistics, Weight Watchers North America, Inc., endorsed the new agreement saying, "Our partnership with Christian Salvesen gives us a distribution system capable of delivering the high level of service we require. She added, "the national coverage of Christian Salvesen combined with the tailored program we have developed together allows us to distribute Personal Cuisine food products to company-owned weight loss centers throughout the United States.

Christian Salvesen's computer system will be linked to Weight Watchers International's computer system allowing for multiple weekly shipments to provide flexible inventory replenishment.

According to Curt Mitchell, Christian Salvesen Pacific Regional Sales Manager, one of the main ingredients provided by Salvesen is, "Our ability to provide delivery in strip mall and metropolitan environments, via the utilization of smaller vehicles, down to 18-foot bobtail trucks."

Christian Salvesen owns and operates a national network of public and dedicated warehouses in the U.S. The warehouses offer storage for a wide range of products which require temperature controls ranging from ambient to super cold. They also provide freight consolidation as well as other added-value logistics services.
