'People who do not like me now kiss my ass'.

Byline: DAVID COLEMAN

LOVE/HATE star John Connors has revealed people who don't like him "kiss my ass" since he shot to fame.

The real-life Traveller, who plays bomb maker Patrick, has featured heavily in the action this season.

Viewers were left reeling two weeks ago when vengeful Patrick brutally killed clumsy hitman Packy in one of the show's most gripping scenes.

And John, from Coolock, North Dublin, revealed the past six weeks of his life have been a lot easier thanks to Stuart Carolan's gritty drama.

He said: "People who I know don't like me are coming up to me and telling me how great I am.

"I actually get a buzz out of it. I love them kissing ass because I know it hurts them.

"I just come back and be even more kind than them. I just kill them with kindness."

The 24-year-old actor was on FM104's Strawberry Alarm Clock to discuss a recent sketch in which the show stereotyped Traveller children.

And John revealed he believes some people are ignorant of the ways of his community.

He said: "People need to get more education on Traveller culture so we can get along on this island.

"We've been here every bit as long as settled people."

John also claimed he has been the victim of internet abuse since he publicly slammed the show's reference to Travellers.

He said: "People were sending hate mail and coming out with 'pikey' and 'knacker'.

"But you get that anywhere. You just have to block them and move on. You get used to the abuse."

John also revealed he nearly suffered a panic attack when he was mobbed by fans at a recent UB40 gig at the Olympia.

He added: "They nearly took the shirt off my back, it gets a bit scary.

"A friend of mine was working there. He looked at me and said, 'You should've worn a hat'."
