'My Husband Doesn't Leave A Dime For Food But Complains The Ration I Serve Him Is Small'.
Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has dissolved the 22-year-old wedlock between a couple, Iyabo Amoo and Teslim Amoo.
Iyabo who dragged her husband to court stated in her suit that her husband was uncaring and fond of beating. She added that he was also in the habit of deserting her and their children.
She, as a result, prayed the court to nullify their relationship and grant her custody of their three children in order that she might give them adequate care. Teslim refused to come to court after being served a court summon twice.
'The greatest mistake I ever made in life was to get married to my husband. If I had known I was going into wedlock with a brute, I would have had a second thought.
'My husband is the most uncaring man I have ever met. He's not bothered about my survival and that of our children. He passed the bulk of his responsibility to me.
'I feed and clothe him and our children on a daily basis but he doesn't see anything bad in it. He complains I serve him small ration of food despite not leaving a dime as feeding allowance.
'My lord, he knows nothing about our children's education. I sold all in my possession to train our children in school but rather than appreciate me all he does is to harass, curse and beat me.
'He's in the habit of packing his belongings and moving out of the house for months and would return again.
'My health is daily failing me as a result of his maltreatment. I'm fed up with him please separate us, the plaintiff stated.
Giving his judgment after listening to the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade stated that it was obvious the defendant was not ready to save his marriage having refused to show up in court after being served a court summon twice.
Ruling, he dissolved their union and awarded custody of their children to the plaintiff.
The defendant was mandated to given N15, 000 monthly through the court as their children's feeding allowance and be responsible for their education and health care among others.
