'Mamma Mia!' '9 to 5' featured at McLeod Summer Playhouse.

Class may be out for the summer, but that doesn't mean that you have to wait until the fall to see entertainment at SIU.

This season's McLeod Summer Playhouse lineup includes stories of adventure, comeuppance, romance and fantasy. Tickets are available now at

Theater for Young Audience: 'Jungle Book'

Based on the books by Rudyard Kipling and adapted by Greg Banks, the beloved adventure of Mowgli, the 'man-cub," and his animal friends and foes comes to the stage in a production sponsored by Carolyn Wagner Snyder.

The location is at the Christian H. Moe Laboratory Theater in the SIU Communications Building. Performances will be at 10 a.m. June 6, 20, 27 and July 11; and 2 p.m. June 2, 16, 23, July 7 and 14.

'9 to 5: The Musical'

The musical based on the 20th Century Fox Dolly Parton classic features three female coworkers who, when pushed to the boiling point, get even with their lying, sexist, egotistical male boss. Based on a Patricia Resnick book, it includes music and lyrics by Dolly Parton.

The production is sponsored by Glenn and Jo Poshard.

Performances at McLeod Theater are set for 7:30 p.m. June 15, 16, 22 and 23; and 2 p.m. June 17 and 24.

'Mamma Mia!'

The hit songs of ABBA come to the stage in this feel-good musical featuring a mother, daughter, three possible dads and an unforgettable trip down the aisle! Based on a Catherine Johnson book, the music and lyrics are by Benny Andersson and Bj|rn Ulvaeus with some songs from Stig Anderson.

The production is sponsored by Southern Illinois Healthcare.

Performances at McLeod Theater are set for 7:30 p.m. July 6, 7, 13 and 14; and 2 p.m. July 8 and 15.

All High School Theater Project: 'Once Upon A Mattress'

Every year McLeod Summer Playhouse and Carbondale Community Arts work together to present the All Southern High School Theatre Project. It's a chance for the public to enjoy performances by some of the best local high school talent and allows young artists to work in a professional theater environment.

This year, the Carol Burnett favorite "Once Upon a Mattress" comes to life at SIU. Bring the kids and introduce them to this hilarious, musical re-telling of "The Princess and the Pea." With book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer, the production features music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer.

Performances at McLeod Theater are set for 7:30 p.m. July 26 to 28; and 2 p.m. July 29.
