'Liquid ecstasy', the deadly choice of sex beasts.

BRITAIN'S courts have dealt with a string of cases where rapists have drugged their victims with GHB.

But users also take the drug, known as "liquid ecstasy", to get high, help them sleep, combat depression or even lose weight.

Regular users have been known to become addicted.

Gamma hydroxybutyrate became widely known on the rave scene in the 1990s.

One 25-year-old woman claimed that she pulled out 18 of her own teeth with pliers after hallucinating while under the influence of drug.

GHB is a man-made drug, first created in the lab in 1874. It was widely used for years by doctors as a sleeping aid and anaesthetic.

It can also knock out victims so totallly that they have no memory of what is done to them.

GHB can cause seizures and comas and can kill. It is especially dangerous when mixed with alcohol.

GHB has been illegal in the UK since 2003. It is a class C drug, and people caught in possession of it without a prescription can be jailed.
