'Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga' Critics Review: Rib-Tickling Fun Movie [TRAILER].
The movie starring Vemal of "Kalavani" fame and Sivakarthikeyan is a comedy flick that has all the ingredients of a commerical entertainer. Director Pandiraj, who made popular films like "Pasanga", "Marina" and "Vamsam", is back with yet another fun-filled movie set in the backdrop of a small town near Trichy.
"Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga" is about two friends Kesavan (Vemal) and Pattai Murugan (Siva Karthikeyan) who enjoy whiling their time away living out of their father's pockets and how they turn into responsible adults. Pandiraj has dealt with children in his earlier films, but his new movie showcases the significance of family and the parents' role.
Here's a round-up of review by film critics.
M Suganth of (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/regional/tamil/movie-reviews/Kedi-Billa-Killadi-Ranga/movie-review/19279715.cms) Times of India said, "By now, the tale of a wastrel turning responsible has been done to death in Tamil cinema but what sets this film apart is in the refreshingly effortless manner in which the director spins his tale."
Commending the efforts of director Pandiraj, Suganth said, "Pandiraj is surefooted enough and knows his characters and the world they inhabit (he even provides endearing backstories for the major characters) that he lets scenes linger just that bit longer injecting humour through his dialogues. Things never turn too serious, not until the very last."
S. Saraswathi of (http://www.rediff.com/movies/review/south-review-kedi-billa-killadi-ranga-is-an-entertainer/20130329.htm) Rediff said, "'Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga'" is a light-hearted romantic comedy with all the elements of a commercial entertainer."
"Though the film deals with a sensitive subject, director Pandiraj injects a good dose of humour and makes it more enjoyable," she added.
Heaping praises on Sivkarthikeyan, one of the movie's heroes, Saraswathi said, "As a stand-up comedian and TV anchor, Siva Karthikeyan was very popular on the small screen before he moved to the world of cinema with the critically acclaimed Marina. In Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, he manages to outshine Vimal with his great comic sense and casual yet sarcastic dialogue delivery. Also his habit of spontaneously bursting into old film songs in many scenes is quite entertaining."
(http://behindwoods.com/tamil-movies/kedi-billa-killadi-ranga/kedi-billa-killadi-ranga-review.html) Behindwoods Review Board said, "The biggest strength of 'Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (KBKR)' is its family friendly nature. Entertaining presentation, clean comedy, fitting dialogues and decent performance mark KBKR. At a time when there is abundance of stress in everyone's lives, a hundred and fifty minutes of clean fun at the theatre is the most sought after and KBKR renders this with ease."
Praising the film's technical aspects and the music, the review board said, "Technically the film is adept with camera work and editing, sticking to the dictates of the script. Yuvan's RR is pleasant in a few places and the songs gel with the mood of the film not impeding the flow."
(http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/review/16420.html) India Glitz said, "Comedy in this movie is nothing biased and harmful; the one-liners make the audience topple with laughter."
Their verdict: "Clean and simple gags are never bitter; KBKR is just about these elements and is sure to captivate everyone."
