'IKE' YORIHIRO RETIRES AS CHAIRMAN AT ALPHA THERAPEUTIC CORP.
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Hikosuke ("Ike") Yorihiro today announced that he will retire at the end of the year as chairman of Alpha Therapeutic Corp. Dr. Takehiko Kawano, president of the Green Cross Corp. will become chairman effective Jan. 1, 1994. H. Edward Matveld will continue to serve as president and chief executive officer. Yorihiro, a graduate of Kyoto University, began his service to Alpha in 1982, following a distinguished career in international banking. He started as vice president treasurer, was elected president and chief executive officer in 1988 and named chairman in 1990. During Yorihiro's tenure at Alpha, the company undertook a rapid expansion program. Worldwide markets for Alpha's plasma products were expanded and total sales more than doubled. Several industry-leading new plasma products were also introduced. Yorihiro is currently vice chairman of the International Plasma Products Industry Association (Geneva).
