'HAPPY DAYS REUNION SPECIAL' IN PRODUCTION; EXPANDS TO 90 MINUTES
HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Production has commenced on the "Happy Days Reunion Special," hosted by Henry Winkler, and has been expanded to 90 minutes (it was previously announced as 60 minutes). From Malcolm Leo Productions in association with the Network Television Division of Paramount Pictures, the "Happy Days Reunion Special" will air on ABC-TV in February and will reunite cast members from the hit comedy series which aired from 1974-1984.
"By expanding to 90 minutes we can pay proper tribute to the 255 episodes and 'Happy Days'' guest stars and show themes," stated executive producer Malcolm Leo, who produced the Emmy-nominated specials "Red, Hot and Blue" and "Rolling Stones -- 20 Years of Rock n' Roll" for ABC. The special will also include never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage. With Leo as director, the "Happy Days Reunion Special" will be written by Sam Denoff and Marc Sheffler. A veteran of TV comedy, Denoff's vast credits include "That Girl" (co- creator), "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (producer) and "It's Garry Shandling's Show" (producer). In addition, he has written and/or produced variety specials starring such talents as Goldie Hawn, Julie Andrews, Bill Cosby and Sid Caesar.
Sheffler has written for numerous sitcoms, including "Harry and the Hendersons," "Who's the Boss" and "Charles in Charge." He also wrote the special, "ABC Presents Tomorrow's Stars."
The "Happy Days Reunion Special" is executive produced and directed by Leo. Bonnie Peterson is the producer.
Paramount Pictures is a Paramount Communications company.
