'Green' theme for Brazil coatings event.
The biennial event is comprised of two sections, the 10th International Paint Congress and the 10th International Exhibition of Paint Suppliers. One of the central themes of this year's International Paint Congress will be "Green Chemistry." Presentations will speak to environmentally friendly products and technology, reducing the use of energy and water, efficient production with less waste, and pollution prevention at the molecular level. A highlight of the presentations will be the paper that won first place in the 10th ABRAFATI-Petrobras Science Prize in Paints competition. Entitled "Thermal-Chromatic Pigments Based in Nanoparticles of Gold Incorporated into Inorganic Matrices," the paper was developed by a team of researchers from the Institute of Chemistry at the University of Sao Paulo, including graduate student Leonardo da Silva Bonifacio and professor Henrique Eisi Toma.
ABRAFATI 2007 will also include exhibitor booths featuring international suppliers, and a poster session. Industry professionals from Brazil, the Americas, Asia, and Europe are expected to attend. Members of the FSCT and SATER, Sociedad Argentina de Tecnologos en Recubrimientos, will speak at the Congress.
