'Green' firm's 20 new jobs.

A COMPANYP providing advice on environmental issues has launched a recruitment drive.

SLR Consulting, with offices in Huddersfield, Sheffield and Leeds, plans to recruit up to 20 "strategic" staff for its UK sites over the next year.

The company's 20-strong workforf ce in Yorkshire is now involved in projects ranging from the developments of wind farms, solar parks, major infrastructure projects and large-scale housing and retail schemes.

Recent projects include a scheme to recycle coal slurry from colliery lagoons in Pontefract on behalf of UK Coal and the provision of technical and planning support for a new energy-from-waste facility in Leeds.

SLR also provides ecological services for housing schemes, working for Persimmon, Redrow Homes, Gleeson Homes, David Wilson Homes and Taylor Wimpey, amongst others.

Ian Andrews, manager of the SLR office at Denby Dale, said: "As well as seeking to attract additional UK industry experts, SLR is also looking for consultants for possible placement into roles in its overseas operations in Canada, the USA, Southern Africa and Australia."

Principal ecologist Gary Oliver said: "The recruitment approach for our offices in Yorkshire is based on ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of the market.

"Despite the ongoing challenges of the economy, we are investing to enhance the services we offer."

SLR employs 320 consultants in 22 locations around the UK.
