'Gav can take a switch to full-back his stride'.

Brian O'Driscoll has backed Lions team-mate Gavin Henson to fill any position in the Welsh back-line - because he's too good not to. Henson has been tipped to line-up for the championship opener against O'Driscoll's side at his unaccustomed spot at full-back.

But according to the Irish captain, his proposed switch of position won't have any adverse effect on the super-confident Henson. 'They want Gavin in the team and he will take it in his stride as always,' he said.

'For starters, he has a sizeable boot and if you kick badly to him he will punish you for that.

'He can be an interesting runner as well as being defensively very strong.

'It feels like they want to get their best players into the side and Gavin fits into that criteria.

With Henson poised to shift to the last line of defence, James Hook is most likely to step into the breach at inside centre.

And giving a ringing endorsement to the 21-year-old, O'Driscoll said: 'From what I've seen he seems a very good player and does the simple things well.'
