'GIANT OF THUNDER MOUNTAIN' BACKER FORMS FAMILY FILMS FOUNDATION
LOS ANGELES, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- John Herklotz, president of Herklotz Enterprises, Inc., who personally financed the production and distribution costs of the newly released family feature, "The Giant of Thunder Mountain," announced today the formation of the Family Films Foundation.
The non-profit foundation was formed to promote the idea of family-oriented films by nurturing film projects with family themes and by helping to open doors that have not been open in the past for the development and distribution of family films by persons of all races.
Selection of the trustees for the Family Films Foundation is currently underway. It is anticipated that the selection process will be completed sometime this summer.
"We are looking for a diverse group of producers, educational and civic leaders and movie-industry people who share the dream of reviving family classics and giving multiple choices to the audience that craves family feature entertainment," Herklotz stated.
Although Herklotz' feature film, "The Giant of Thunder Mountain" which will be screening in 175 midwest theaters on June 5 will not be promoted through the foundation, he feels that it is a model of the type of films that should be developed and promoted through the foundation. "Giant" received the highest rating from Ted Baehr's Movie Guide, the award of excellence from the Film Advisory Board and endorsements from numerous groups that are looking for wholesome entertainment for families.
As a long-term commitment to the foundation, Herklotz has pledged 15 percent of the net profits from "The Giant of Thunder Mountain" along with 15 percent of the net profits from any future films that he might produce. Herklotz also stated that 5 percent of the film's net profits would be set aside for the crew members of "Giant" whose efforts brought the film in six days ahead of schedule and under budget.
