'Fragrance as a Science' course is Jan. 29.

* The SCC has scheduled a continuing education course, "Fragrance as a Science," for Jan. 29, 2013 at the Doubletree Newark Airport Hilton. Course topics will include the sense of smell, the history of perfume, fragrance creation and duplication, aroma chemicals and reactions, fragrance applications in personal care and household products, fragrance regulations, natural fragrances, aromatherapy and household products, fragrance regulations, natural fragrances, aromatherapy and aroma science. Also on tap is chemoreception, the history of fragrance, fragrance in personal care, fragrance in household products, and fragrance safety and regulations.

The instructor is Steve Herman, VP new technology development at AFF International. He is an adjunct professor in the FDU Masters in Cosmetic Science program. His SCC activities include serving as chairman of the New York Chapter in 1992. He is author of "Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide."
