'Fake' relief camp appears during PM's Balochistan visit.

JAFFARABAD, Aug. 13 -- During Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani's visit to Sohbatpur in Balochistan on Thursday, local authorities set up a fake relief camp for flood victims.

When the helicopters carrying PM Gilani, his cabinet members and reporters landed in the area, local officials showcased the relief camp, consisting of empty tents. Standing around the camp, locals told Daily Times that it was the first time that they themselves had seen the camp, which was not there yesterday.

"We have just seen the camp, which local authorities claim is providing medical and relief facilities to us. We were living in misery due to the floods for the last 10 days. But nobody had came to us except for the Pakistan Army personnel," said a middle-aged man standing in the crowd. He was holding a petition in his hand that he failed to deliver to the PM due to the elaborate security arrangements.

Other locals also supported the statement, which was substantiated by the fact that all the tents were brand new, untouched and without any sign of the rough weather and floodwater.

However, it is not the first time such a camp has been set by local authorities. Earlier, the media uncovered a fake hospital set up by the local administration in Mianwali.
