'DEVIOUS' TALBOT JAILED FOR 5 YEARS OVER SEX ASSAULTS; He gained trust of male pupils.
Byline: PAUL BYRNE
SHAMED TV weatherman Fred Talbot was yesterday jailed for five years for indecently assaulting two schoolboys.
Perverted Talbot - branded devious by a police investigator - had been found guilty last month and at his sentencing, Suzanne Goddard QC, defending, said little could be said in mitigation.
The 65-year-old had been a regular on the floating map for ITV's This Morning. But his trial heard that when he worked as a teacher at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, in Cheshire, in the mid-1970s, he had used his "extrovert personality" to gain the trust of his teenage victims. Talbot, of Bowdon, was sentenced at Man-chester's Minshull Street crown court to two-and-a-half years for each offence, to run consecutively. He was cleared of a further eight counts of indecent assault in relation to three other schoolboys. Outside court DCI Graham Brock said of Talbot: "There is a devious element to him."
