'BOND WITH GENERAL' FREQUENT RENTER PROGRAM LAUNCHED; GENERAL RENT-A-CAR OFFERS U.S. SAVINGS BONDS

 'BOND WITH GENERAL' FREQUENT RENTER PROGRAM LAUNCHED;
 GENERAL RENT-A-CAR OFFERS U.S. SAVINGS BONDS
 HOLLYWOOD, Fla., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Travelers now can "make money driving" when they rent from General Rent-A-Car. The company today introduced "Bond With General," an innovative national program that awards U.S. Savings Bonds to frequent renters.
 "Bond With General" marks the first time a car rental company has broken with the industry trend of frequency programs that offer free rentals, frequent flyer miles and other travel premiums.
 "Everybody is looking for new ways to save and General's program can turn travel into money in the bank," said General President and CEO F. Paul Silicato. "First, you'll save money with our low rates, and then you'll earn money, a $50 U.S. Savings Bond, with as few as four rentals."
 Between March 25, 1992 and March 31, 1993, travelers can receive a $50 U.S. Savings Bond with just four rentals of a Chrysler compact or larger car at General. Frequent travelers can earn the program's largest award: a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond with 50 qualified General rentals.
 The "Bond With General" program is free and, unlike other frequent renter programs, there is no membership enrollment process required. Customers submit the appropriate number of completed General rental agreements with a simple application form, available at every General rental counter nationwide. Bonds will arrive within six to nine weeks.
 General is advertising its new frequency program in daily newspapers and in-flight publications with a $29.95 nationwide daily rate for a full size Chrysler car like the Dodge Dynasty (rate plan FZ). The ads feature General's spokesperson, Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan, and the headline, "Now Anyone Can Make Money Driving!" The rate applies to drivers 25 and over and is subject to limited availability through June 30, 1992.
 Bond Program Offers Value-Added Benefits
 "We wanted to reward our loyal customers with something we believe is even more valuable than frequent flyer miles," said Silicato. "For many people, saving money this year is the bottom line."
 General's frequency program is designed to build loyalty among its current customer base and introduce new customers to the advantages of renting from the company. With "Bond With General," customers always receive free unlimited mileage, and OnePass Miles with proof of arrival on Continental Airlines, adding even extra value to every rental.
 Fast, friendly service is another advantage of renting from General. The company's positioning line, "Going All Out," stands for teamwork, professionalism, consistency and an attitude that says, "Good enough isn't good enough." It sums up General's goal to provide the best service in the industry.
 General Setting the Pace with Innovations
 Known for its low, competitive rates, General has distinguished itself in the last two years with major advances in technology with the introduction of Pacesetter, the company's state-of-the-art computer reservation and rental processing system. "Bond With General" now marks a breakthrough in car rental frequency programs.
 An added plus of "Bond With General" is that customers can apply for awards in someone else's name. Therefore, the bonds can be given as gifts, registered in a child's name, or used for future education costs. Interest on U.S. Savings Bonds is tax-deferred until the bonds are redeemed, making them ideal savings investments.
 Every General rental location is participating in the bond promotion. Located nationwide with a strong presence in the Southeast, Southwest, West and Northwest regions, all General offices are corporately owned and operated to ensure quality service and products. In 50 percent of the airports it serves nationally, General offers convenient in-terminal rental counters.
