'BEAUTY AND THE BEAST' ENTERTAIN CHILDREN WITH CLASSIC TALE IN RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK

 LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Children from the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, Mountain View Elementary in Azusa and Mesa School of West Covina heard the centuries-old classic tale of "Beauty and the Beast," today (Thursday, Nov. 19), from the characters themselves.
 Nu Skin International Inc. sponsored the story-telling events in support of National Children's Book Week (Nov. 16-22) and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
 Professional actors David Wade Jacobs and Amy Westerby, clothed in regal renaissance-era costumes, played the roles of "Beauty" and the "beastly" Prince. They told the timeless love story to approximately 100 children from Mountain View Elementary School and 30 hearing-impaired children from Mesa School at 10 a.m. in Zacateas Park in Azusa.
 The colorful visual backdrop was the actual 36-foot-tall "Beauty and the Beast" float sponsored by Nu Skin, based in Provo, Utah, for the 104th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade. Nu Skin is a first-time Rose Parade sponsor.
 The famous pair entertained young patients during the afternoon at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, in cooperation with the hospital and the Children's Miracle Network.
 The story of "Beauty and the Beast," which dates back to 16th century France, has been told and retold in countless variations through literature, drama and art.
 Nu Skin's float depicts a classic storybook version of "Beauty and the Beast." It features animated characters which stand 19 feet and 27 feet tall. It will appear on Jan. 1, 1993, in the annual Rose Parade.
 The float soars to 36 feet at the castle's peak and is 55 feet long. Covering the float on New Year's Day will be a variety of flowers and other natural vegetation collected from throughout the world, including more than 300,000 blossoms weighing nearly 4.5 tons.
 The float is designed and built by Bravo Productions of Pasadena, Calif.
