' Ayurveda' conmen in police net.

THE Delhi Police have arrested five people for allegedly duping gullible patients on the pretext of providing ayurvedic treatment for various health problems.

The accused amassed wealth worth several lakhs by charging ` 1.5 lakh to ` 2 lakh from each patient.

According to police, they used to target gullible patients suffering from diseases such as hairfall, mental disorder and skin problems. They convinced their victims to go for ayurvedic treatment at Ayushri Ayurveda, Karol Bagh. The patients were assured if they did not get relief within two months of treatment, 75 per cent of the amount would be refunded.

" When the clients used to visit the clinic they were charged a huge amount and the gang never worked at one place for a long period and frequently hopped places," additional commissioner of police ( central) Divesh Srivastava said.

The gang was busted after Purnima Roy, a senior manager at the metals and minerals trading corporation, filed a complaint that she was duped of ` 2 lakh by the accused on the pretext of providing treatment for hair loss. Five of the accused were arrested from Karol Bagh on Thursday but mastermind Rajesh Kumar is on the run.
