$400,000 LOAN WILL HELP CREATE 50 JOBS IN CHAMBERSBURG

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Robert P. Casey today announced a $400,000 loan that will enable a power motor manufacturer to establish an operation in Chambersburg and create 80 jobs.
The state Department of Commerce's Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund (MELF) loan is being awarded to GS Electric.
"Pennsylvania's machinery and equipment loans are often the key to getting expansion projects off the ground," Casey said.
The loan will enable GS Electric to establish a second operation in central Pennsylvania.
GS Electric manufactures power motors for floor care products, lawn and garden tools, small kitchen appliances and exercise equipment. The company will use the loan to equip its new plant in Chambersburg.
The expansion project will not affect job levels at the firm's Carlisle plant, which currently employs 180 workers.
The total cost of the Chambersburg project is more than $3.2 million.
MELF is targeted to industrial and manufacturing companies, agricultural processors and mining operations. The loans may be used for acquisition and upgrading of machinery and equipment.
