$225,000 STATE GRANT TO HELP WESTMORELAND COMPANY RENOVATE

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- State Commerce Secretary Andrew T. Greenberg today announced a $225,000 grant to enable a company to improve its operation, build an access road and renovate an existing road in Monessen, Westmoreland County, Pa.
The Business Infrastructure Development (BID) grant will help Fib-Chem Industries Inc. locate a new corporate office, warehouse and truck maintenance depot at the Westgate site of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.
"Through our state assistance programs, we have helped companies expand and renovate across Pennsylvania," Greenberg said. "We are using our economic resources to aid firms in the redevelopment of abandoned industrial sites."
The firm, which manufactures materials for the reinforced plastics industry, plans to create 15 new jobs in the next three years.
Administered by the Department of Commerce, BID grants are awarded to manufacturers, industrial researchers and developers, agricultural processors or firms establishing a national or regional headquarters.
