$195,000 STATE INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- State Commerce Secretary Andrew T. Greenberg today announced a $195,000 state infrastructure grant that will allow two powdered metal manufacturers and a powdered metal processor to expand their operations in Benzinger Township, Elk County.
The grant, which is funded from the Department of Commerce's Business Infrastructure Development (BID) program, will be used by Benzinger Township to serve Custom Industrial Processing Inc., Advanced Thermal Products Inc. and Sinterite Products. It will enable the companies to create 26 jobs.
"This infrastructure grant is an example of how our economic development resources are used to help companies expand and create jobs as they modernize their operations," Greenberg said.
"In communities across the commonwealth, we are targeting our economic development resources to help our existing businesses meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive marketplace."
The grant will be used to extend a sewage collection line 4,850 feet and construct a pump station at the site.
Custom Industrial Processing Inc., which does mechanical plating and other specialty processes such as resin impregnating, is expanding its plant and adding new equipment. The $250,000 project is expected to create six jobs.
Advanced Thermal Products Inc., a manufacturer of temperature-sensing devices, is also expanding its plant and purchasing new equipment. The $100,000 project is expected to create 10 jobs.
Sinterite Products, which manufactures non-melting welding furnaces and fabricates alloy steel products, is purchasing new equipment and expanding its operations. The $200,000 project is expected to create 10 jobs.
BID grants may be used by municipalities on behalf of industrial firms to acquire land and construct access roads, water and sewer treatment facilities, storm drainage systems and rail and port facilities.
