"Virtual Sensation," Mya Makes Her Debut At the Oscars; Motorola Announces Its First Cyber-Assistant.

Business Editors, Telecommunications Writers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000

Although she didn't star in one of this year's blockbusters, and she's not dating one of Hollywood's cover boys, Mya(TM) has been marked Hollywood's latest "it" girl. As most of Tinsel Town's fresh faces do, Mya sprouted out of nowhere. She burst onto the Hollywood scene Oscar(R) night, and since then everyone is talking about her.

Mya made her national debut on television during the live telecast of the 1999 Academy Awards. In her 60-second prime time spot, Mya announced how she will soon change your life. Mya, the amazing 24-hour, voice-driven, cyber-generated personal assistant will read the web to you anytime, anywhere and she is coming soon to a phone near you.

Using inexplicable cyber-ways that involve everything from improved voice-recognition to a new voice-driven Net navigation language, Mya will soon help link consumers to information while they are mobile. You just call her and she can read what you want, including, stocks, sports, weather, traffic reports, airline reservations, local news, addresses, and appointments.

Mya offers more than just access to your calendar and contacts. Mya offers information. "Motorola expects that by the year 2002 more people will connect to the Internet from new `devices formerly known as cell-phones' than from computers. Consumers will be able to send an email, surf the web by voice, take a digital image, buy movie tickets, watch a game-winning touchdown, even speak to each other via video wirelessly," said Geoffrey Frost, vice president and director of communications, Motorola's Personal Communications Sector. "Mya will help break down the barriers of information access by providing an easy way for people to retrieve and use important personal and Internet information while they are mobile, without touching or even looking at anything... she will be everyone's best friend."

The questions running through Hollywood are "How do I get to Mya? Who represents her? How can I sign her?" Automatically one turns to the usual suspects but are surprised to learn that she's Motorola's latest protege, who is demonstrating her extraordinary abilities @ www.motorola.com.

As for Mya herself, Digital Domain, the Venice, California-based visual effects studio created Mya the celebrity. Revolutionary technology has been used in her development, with the construction of Mya's hair to the movement of the clothing on her body. "We wanted to create a character that people instantly liked," said Fred Raimondi, visual effects supervisor for Digital Domain. "With Mya it is important for people to develop a personal connection within the virtual world, and it was our challenge to achieve that."

Like most new stars, Mya is concentrating on her work and won't be accessible for several months. But stay tuned...
