VNU Business Media (New York), the parent of "The Hollywood Reporter," has launched a new editorial service, "The Hollywood Reporter, Esq.," that is designed to serve as a comprehensive resource for the fields of entertainment and media law. An annual subscription, including access to the weekly digital edition of "The Hollywood Reporter, Esq.," the hollywoodreporteresq.com web site and relevant databases, as well as a daily e-mail service, costs $599 for individuals. An annual group subscription for up to ten users costs $2000.The new service is targeted to entertainment media law professionals, including attorneys, corporate executives, agents and related industry executives, and includes databases of talent and studio-related transactions, litigation involving entertainment and media-related issues, corporate transactions, intellectual property, technology, labor and governmental issues. Major editorial sections include Talent & Studios, Corporate, litigation, Labor, Government, IP/Tech and Celebrity.
A recent issue of the weekly online magazine included stories on: California's decision not to take antitrust action over McClatchy Co.'s sale of two newspapers; NBC Universal's labor dispute with the janitor's union; the perils of handshake deals; contract signings; and, litigation actions involving Maya Angelou, EchoStar, Intertainment, and Fox.
The Hollywood Reporter president Tony Uphoff said "there are thousands of different services that law firms subscribe to, but there aren't any that cater to entertainment and media, so there was a need to do this. He said the service will contain advertising from three main areas, including law firms, services for law firms and luxury goods.
