"Smackdown Your Vote!" Registers More Than 20,000 Voters; Debuts Public Service Announcements.

Business Editors/Government, Entertainment & Marketing Writers

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2000

Approximately 20,000 people have registered to vote in the first two weeks of the "Smackdown Your Vote!" campaign, World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. (NMS: WWFE), MTV's Choose or Lose, Youth Vote 2000 and Project Vote Smart announced today at the Democratic National Convention.

The non-partisan voter registration initiative spearheaded by the four organizations should gain an even higher profile with the launch of new public service announcements (PSAs) on CBS, UPN, and TNN, the new home of WWF programming starting this fall. World Wrestling Federation superstars, The Rock and Chyna, were on hand to debut the PSAs at the Democratic National Convention today. The PSA campaign marks the first time that WWF superstars have appeared in public service announcements outside the WWF television programming.

"These public service announcements will help us spread the message to WWF fans and other eligible voters that it's important to register to vote," said Linda McMahon, chief executive officer of WWFE. "WWF fans will elect the next President of the United States, but in order to do that, they have to register to vote."

"Smackdown Your Vote!" has been registering and bringing election information to thousands of previously unregistered voters during WWF arena events, at WWF New York, a site-based entertainment complex in New York City's Times Square, and through the company's Web site, wwfvote.com, as well as through MTV's chooseorlose.com. The wwfvote.com Web site has received more than 145,000 page views since its launch on August 2, 2000.

The WWF's appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles follows the highly successful kickoff of the voter registration program at the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.
