"PREHYSTERIA," A FAMILY-ORIENTED DINOSAUR MOVIE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY, COMING TO VIDEO STORES JUNE 30

HOLLYWOOD, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 30, Paramount Home Video's "Prehysteria," a live-action dinosaur movie suited for the entire family, will ship to video stores nationwide. Ideal for young children with dinosaur fever, this PG-rated direct-to-video comedy- adventure stars 11-year-old Austin O'Brien, who also stars in "Last Action Hero." Making the announcement was Eric Doctorow, executive vice president of Paramount Home Video.
"Prehysteria" follows the antics of a widowed raisin farmer (Brett Cullen), his son (O'Brien) and teenage daughter as they adopt and secretly raise a newly hatched batch of five pygmy dinosaurs. When a diabolical antiquities dealer and his wacky henchmen set out to kidnap the family's pets, a hilarious race is on to save the cuddly creatures. "Prehysteria's" endearing baby dinos come to life in this comic and heartwarming tale through an array of top-quality special effects techniques, including rod puppetry and stop-motion animation.
"Prehysteria" has set a new sales record for Paramount for a direct-to-video movie. It also ranks as one of the all-time top 10 best- selling direct-to-video movies in the video industry.
"Prehysteria" is the debut title from video pioneer Charles Band's new label, Moonbeam Entertainment, which was created to produce G- and PG-rated fantasy/adventure movies for the entire family to enjoy. It was directed by Charles Band and Albert Band, produced by Charles Band, and co-produced by Debra Dion and Peter Von Sholly. "Prehysteria" was written by Greg Suddeth and Mark Goldstein from an original idea by Von Sholly.
Metro Kids writes: "Catch `Prehysteria' and watch out for these rockin' dinos ... Charles Band has successfully adapted his creative genius to the family genre in this warm and witty example of dinomania."
