"Let's Stop AIDS Spread" Musical Concert on World AIDS Day.
Members of Solhi al-Wadi band played music pieces on the lute, the violin and the piano.Health Minister Rida Saad stressed the importance that the governmental and civil parties concerned cooperate for stopping the spread of AIDS disease and keeping the rate of AIDS patients in Syria at a low level.
The World AIDS Day is celebrated annually on the first of December to increase awareness about AIDS and HIV infection and show global support to combating the disease.
Director of the NPCA Jamal Khamis said in a statement to SANA that AIDS diagnosis and test centers in the Syrian provinces provide free services of conducting check ups and tests for patients and taking care of them.
He pointed out that the Program's services also include providing counseling for people who ask for information about AIDS and those who are infected or who want to do voluntary tests, as well as those working in the medical field.
In 2010, the Program has set up three centers for voluntary counseling and testing for HIV/AIDS in cooperation with the Syrian Family Planning Association and the UNPF and three other centers within the central prisons of Damascus and Aleppo and the women prison in Douma, Damascus Countryside, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry.
The NPCA activities include training and qualification for doctors and medical cadres at the health departments on voluntary counseling and testing.
