Byline: Steve Riches

"I'm always interested in growing new herbs and a nursery I visit has pots of St Joseph's Wort. Is it worth me buying some?" asks Chas Corby, of Teignmouth, Devon.

A It sure is, Chas, because that's simply another name often used by trendy little nurseries for our age-old favourite, basil!

Watch out, too, for Chinese parsley, known to the rest of the world as coriander. They probably also have dropsy plant (lemon balm), mountain mint (oregano), bread and cheese (sorrel) and maybe oswego tea (bergamot).

Tell them you're looking for some Dew of the Sea.

Bet they don't know it's rosemary.
