"Flash & Flex Developer's Magazine" launched.
The company said the new title is designed to be a source of advanced techniques and applications and is devoted to carrying information on topics such as actions script development, server-side interaction, training, tool reviews, book reviews, and sound and motion animation functions as well as mobile applications. It is described as a source of advanced usage of Flash/Flex, such as: Action Script, development and sound and animation functions. Each issue of the magazine includes a CD with the latest programs, applications, sample code and video tutorials.
The first two issues of the magazine include articles and features on Adobe AIR and getting started with most of the API's, a tutorial on the AS3 Display List, Flash client-server communication, developing a mini-blog using Flash, object-oriented programming, Google maps in Flex, desktop applications, modular Flash applications, fundamentals of display, database interaction and using Socket class to connect to an SMTP server to send mail directly from Flash.
An accompanying web site carries a range of downloadable information including articles, reviews/interviews with industry professionals, source files and applications. Competition for the new title includes DMX Zone and Flash Zone, web sites for web designers and developers using Dreamweaver and Flash, respectively, Flash Magazine and Flex Magazine, both online-only titles, and "Flex Developer's Journal," a print/online bimonthly produced by Sys-Con Media.
