surfCONTROL, the worldwide leader in responsible Internet usage and a division of JSB Software Technologies (EASDAQ:JSBS/London:JSB), today announced its expansion into major German markets with the acquisition of CSM Security Management AG, a leading European-based provider of Web content and e-mail filtering software.

A recent report by International Data Corporation on European Internet usage predicts that Germany will drive up to one-third of Western Europe's growth, growing from 4 million to 17 million users by the end of 2001.

With the acquisition of CSM, surfCONTROL gains the addition of a complementary non-English content database and a base technology to address the rapidly expanding e-mail filtering market. surfCONTROL also gains highly valued OEM and development relationships with major international corporations including Hewlett Packard and Biodata AG; more than 4,500 European customers, including major corporations; a well-established distribution and reseller network and a strong engineering team with expertise in UNIX, Linux, WAP and 3G protocols to enhance and consolidate current and future product offerings.

Terms of the sale were $17.3 million, satisfied by issuing 640,000 new ordinary shares over 26 months. CSM is based in Vienna and currently employs 38 people. The company has offices in Vienna; Frankfurt, Germany and Leiden, Holland.
