PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 2002

Alliance Delivers the World's First End-to-End MPEG-4-Based

Live Internet Broadcast Service

In a groundbreaking initiative, radioio(TM), one of the largest Internet-only radio stations in the world, has partnered with Limelight Networks Limelight Networks (NASDAQ: LLNW) is a network for bandwidth-intensive rich media applications over the Internet. It is based in Tempe, Arizona, U.S.A.

The company seeks to position the Limelight Content Delivery Network (CDN) as the best platform for distribution of

Working with Apple(R) in utilizing a combination Apple QuickTime(R) Broadcaster, QuickTime Streaming Server QuickTime Streaming Server (QTSS) is a server or service daemon built into Apple Computer's Mac OS X Server that delivers video and audio on request to users over a computer network or the Internet. Its primary GUI configuration tool is QTSS Publisher.  4 and the QuickTime 6 MPEG-4 codec (1) (enCOder/DECoder) A hardware circuit that performs analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) conversion. When analog signals are entered into a computer, cellphone or other device via a microphone or video source such as VHS tape or analog TV, , radioio and Limelight Networks are proud to become the first in the industry to deliver a comprehensive MPEG-4-based Internet broadcast.

Building on a relationship established earlier this year, Limelight Networks' distributed media delivery platform enables radioio to accelerate delivery of music streams, enhance listener experience and reduce the infrastructure costs necessary to support their operation. Limelight Networks streams content in many formats including QuickTime and now MPEG-4 from multiple servers located at the "Edge" of the Internet, reducing the burden on radioio's origin servers. This distributed streaming model enables radioio to expand its audience without taking on additional resources or making infrastructure investments.

Today, more than 35,000 people a day dial into radioio's various music streams, making it one of the most popular Internet-only radio stations on the Web. "We're very excited about being able to bring radioio content to the large and growing base of QuickTime users -- and folks who are using other ISO-compliant MPEG-4 players. We believe strongly that MPEG-4 will very soon become the industry standard for webcasting. It is already becoming the industry standard for the delivery of audio and video via cellular in much of Europe and most of Asia -- and this creates a lot of opportunity for radioio to extend its audience. And, of course, the sound quality is just amazing!" says ioMediaPartners President and radioio founder Michael Roe.

"We're proud to be the first delivery network to support this end-to-end solution," said David Rice, Vice-President of Marketing and Channel Development at Limelight Networks. "The technology is powerful and will scale easily to support our growing customer base of content providers like radioio. It also extends our reach to multiple devices like PDAs and set-top boxes, which allows us to deliver content to a larger audience. Apple has been very helpful in supporting our efforts to add this new capability. We look forward to delivering significant MPEG-4 traffic in the near future".

The ISO chose to use Apple's QuickTime format based on its 10-year track record in the industry and proven capabilities.
