New Version adds Enhanced Capabilities and Optimizations

for Reducing Footprint of Java(TM) Micro Edition Applications

preEmptive Solutions, Inc., a leader in Internet-based technologies with a focus on Java development tools, today announced availability of DashO(TM) Embedded Edition, also known as DashO-EE. This product extends preEmptive's Java packaging tool family by offering special features for Java Micro Edition (J2ME) developers.

DashO-EE's exclusive purpose is to provide secure and efficient post-compilation packaging of embedded Java byte code. It adds features that are specifically designed for developers who are struggling to minimize byte code footprints on Java embedded devices. To do this, DashO-EE includes the renowned obfuscation, optimizing, and size reduction capabilities of preEmptive's existing DashO-Pro toolset. DashO-Pro will continue to serve the non-embedded Java market.

Key new features in the new DashO Embedded Edition include the ability to recognized pre-verified library classes, the ability to invoke a pre-verifier at the conclusion of the DashO run, and a special MIDP Wizard within the GUI control center application. Post-release enhancements are currently under development that will provide additional size and speed optimizations for Java Micro Edition virtual machines.
