mtm laboratories AG Establishes US Subsidiary, Naming Robert Silverman President.


HEIDELBERG, Germany -- mtm laboratories AG, a developer of diagnostic products for the early detection of cancer, announced today the incorporation of a US subsidiary in Westborough, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. The subsidiary, mtm laboratories Inc., is wholly-owned by mtm laboratories AG, Heidelberg, Germany. It will be headed by Mr. Robert Silverman, who will serve as President.

For the past 18 months, Mr. Silverman has provided strategic management consulting services to mtm through his company, RS Consulting. Prior to forming RS Consulting, Mr. Silverman served as the Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for ViaCell, Inc. ViaCell is a biotechnology company focusing on the application of human cells as medicine in the treatment of human disease. From 1996-2001, Mr. Silverman held several senior executive positions with Cytyc Corporation, including Vice President of International and Vice President of Marketing. . In addition, Mr. Silverman has held senior management positions with Pasteur-Merieux Connaught, now a division of Sanofi Aventis, and Abbott Laboratories Pharmaceutical Products Division.

The activities of the subsidiary will focus on business development and the marketing of mtm's biomarker-based products in the United States. It will increase mtm's presence and strategic position in the largest single market for products in the area of cancer screening and diagnosis.
