Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq:PWER) today announced the third series of products in their Y Series of Nex(TM) Family non-isolated POL DC/DC converters. The 20A YNC products provide what is believed to be the industry's highest power density, up to 500 watts / in3 (29A / in2), and highest current for this industry-standard package and pinout. The YNC products are available in two versions optimized for nominal 5V and 12V Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) bus voltages. These maXyz(TM) IBA compatible products are designed and manufactured by di/dt, a Power-One company.

The Nex(TM) Family combines industry-standard footprints and trim equations with enhanced features and improved electrical and thermal performance. The YNC converters have dimensions of 1.3x0.53x0.314 inch (33x13.5x8 mm). These SMD products provide programmable outputs from 0.75VDC to 5.5VDC, facilitating the use of one part number for multiple applications.

The YNC products provide superior thermal performance. In typical telecom conditions of 70(degree)C and 200 LFM airflow, the 12V input version delivers up to 17A with an output of 3.3VDC. Other features include remote ON/OFF, output voltage adjust pin, remote sense, no minimum load requirements, start-up into pre-biased outputs to facilitate sequencing, input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, and over-current protection.
