: XDSL) today announced a new software release specifically designed to help telcos succeed in scaling their IPTV networks.

The mPhase TV+(TM) System Release 5.0 enables service providers to deliver compelling entertainment services and effectively grow their IPTV networks. Now, telco engineers will have additional dimensions of managing, scaling and load balancing The fine tuning of a computer system, network or disk subsystem in order to more evenly distribute the data and/or processing across available resources. The new release also includes an enhanced user interface with a new look and advanced program guide searching features. The company also added new language support for Russian, Arabic and Chinese.

"We are applying lessons learned in nearly a decade of pioneering development work in delivering video over traditional telecommunications networks," said Ronald Durando, mPhase's president and chief executive. "We believe that the current and planned enhancements to the mPhase TV+ IPTV System are coming to market just at the time when scale and complexity require a pre-integrated and tested offer with an open platform like ours."

mPhase has added features for flexible and secure license management to remotely provision features without complete software upgrades. Release 5.0 adds scalability by allowing distributed network engineering with multiple STB managers. The release also includes advanced maintenance and diagnostic features.

"Managing the operational expense of IPTV is the critical success factor in this business, and hence we are devoting a lot of time and attention to help our customers avoid the inevitable bumps on the road," said Durando. "As the market matures for combined offers such as interactive gaming and IPTV-enabled custom telephony features, we intend to provide customers with the relevant capabilities that maximize the return on investment in the mPhase TV+ System."

Other recent improvements include general availability of an integrated Latens dynamic Conditional Access System A conditional access system (CAS) is a system by which electronic transmission of digital media, especially satellite television signals through cable, is limited to subscribed clients.
