(TSE:VEN, OTCBB:VENGF) announced today that it has made early round minority investments totaling nearly US$4 million in three privately held companies specializing in next generation networking Next Generation Networking (NGN) is a broad term to describe some key architectural evolutions in telecommunication core and access networks that will be deployed over the next 5-10 years.  technologies -- a key focus within itemus' overall investment strategy.

The three new members of the rapidly growing itemus community of companies are Antarcti.ca Systems Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia; Global Services Network Inc. of Portland, Oregon; and Personification Inc. of Toronto, Ontario.

Antarcti.ca Systems is building a general-purpose mapping and visualization platform for large, complex networks. Antarcti.ca is the culmination of a three-year R&D effort led by Tim Bray, co-founder of Open Text Corporation and co-inventor of Extensible Markup Language See XML.
