As part of the agreement, Topix retrieves infoUSA data through a XML based API that allows searches to be performed in real time on the most current local business database available with infoUSA. Topix users can search infoUSA's local business information including restaurants, shopping, entertainment, sports, beauty, fitness and travel categories to name a few. In a typical month, infoUSA touches about 15% of business database including adding 130,000 brand news businesses and removing about 125,000 "out-of-business" records from the database, primarily as a result of phone verification of local businesses.
