iXOS Chosen by Global Health Care Company; Paperless System Enables Cost-Savings and Smooth Integration with SAP R/3.

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1998--iXOS(R) Software, Inc. announced today that Allergan, a technology-driven, global health care company, with 1997 worldwide revenue of $1.1 billion, chose iXOS-ARCHIVE as its imaging and archiving solution for the SAP R/3(tm) system.

Allergan, headquartered in Irvine, CA, had reviewed other vendors' products, but iXOS was their ultimate choice, due to the product's smooth integration with SAP R/3.

Initially, Allergan management decided to invest in an imaging and archiving solution to enable their accounting departments to cut costs and save time. Instead of handling paper, employees can route and retain all documents electronically. Now rather than calling long distance to the Irvine Shared Service Center, Allergan employees at sites in California, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Canada can simply look up an invoice in SAP and using the iXOS viewer can see the actual documents that were processedat the Shared Service Center. Manual handling of paper documents and outsourcing documents to be microfilmed or microfiched are not required anymore. Employees in the accounts payable department have realized considerable time savings as they receive fewer phone calls requesting research and faxes of invoice copies from internal customers.

Marie Topper, Accounts Payable Services Manager for Allergan noted, "When all our manufacturing sites are up and running on iXOS, we expect to save $48,000 per year in microfilm/microfiche costs in our department alone. We estimate that our company's total savings will amount to $128,000 per year. We used to process invoices on seven different payable systems. We also used to have a labor-intensive invoice approval system -- which seems pretty archaic to us now. The approvals used to take up to 2 weeks, and now it

takes an average of 1-3 days, since we send the invoice image via e-mail. Prior to iXOS, our General Ledger Shared Service Center performed a pre-audit of our processed invoices from hard copies of the invoices, now it's done on-line. We also do all our accruals on-line, which has saved our processors and staff accountants a lot of time and aggravation."

When the department began on-line auditing using iXOS-ARCHIVE, Joseph Blume, Administrative Assistant/Associate Accountant, remarked, "Auditing on-line using the iXOS viewer is beneficial from a paper reduction standpoint, and I find the product very easy to use.
