eTrue's TrueFace Technology in Winning Bid for GSA $1.5 Billion Smart Access Common ID Program; Biometric Face Recognition Major Part of Solution to be Developed by Logicon.

eTrue, which offers the first biometric authentication See biometrics.  service that is outsourced over the Internet, has announced that its TrueFace(TM) face recognition technology will be used in the General Services Administration's (GSA (1) (Global mobile Suppliers Association, Sawbridgeworth, U.K., www.gsacom.com) A membership organization of suppliers of GSM products and services. Its goal is to promote GSM as the worldwide mobile communications standard. See GSM Association and GSM. ) $1.5 billion Federal U.S. government-wide Smart Access Common ID Program. TrueFace, the world's most installed face recognition product, will be provided through Logicon, an eTrue partner, which specified TrueFace in its winning bid. Logicon, a leader in systems integration and smart card technology, is one of the key companies receiving the go-ahead from GSA for the development project.

Through the contracts awarded, GSA's Smart Access Common ID Program will deliver common, interoperable, multi-application smart cards Example of widely used contactless smart cards are Hong Kong's Octopus card, Paris' Calypso/Navigo card and Lisbon' LisboaViva card, which predate the ISO/IEC 14443 standard. The contracts awarded to develop the leading-edge smart cards have a total value of $1.5 billion over ten years to all winners.

eTrue's TrueFace technology will also be supplied through another eTrue partner, SAFLINK Corporation, which is another of the winning contractors on the GSA project.

TrueFace-enabled products and solutions have been deployed by a number of U.S. Federal government agencies, including the Department of Defense, National Security Agency, and Department of Energy.
