eSinoMed forms alliances to publish pubs for Chinese market.

Advanstar Healthcare Communications (New York) and eSinoMed (Greensboro, NC/Shanghai, PRC), a provider of global medical intelligence for the Chinese market, have formed an alliance to publish Ophthalmology Times China, a Chinese-langauge edition of Advanstar's Ophthalmology Times. It will launch with a Spring 2002 issue and will be published quarterly.

The magazine will have a controlled circulation of 7500 ophthamologists in China. Advanstar said the title will provide editorial on the latest global developments in refractive surgery, cataract, glaucoma, retina, and other ophthalmic sub-specialties. An accompanying Web site will carry information on breaking news, market data and continuing medical education.

eSinoMed's cmo Dr. Robert Martin said "I do not believe this will be a one-way street; there is much we can learn from Chinese ophthalmologists." Chinese Ophthalmology Association secretary Dr. Sun Xuguang said the launch "will setup a highway for exchanging up-to-date (industry) advances between China and the West."

Also this month, eSinoMed and Medical Distribution Services, Inc. (MDSI; Norcross, GA), a division of U.S. LifeLine, Inc., began the publication of Repertoire China, a Chinese-language edition of MDSI's Repertoire, for 10,000 medical distibutors in China. MDSI and eSinoMed also said they plan on launching a Chinese-language edition of MDSI's First Moves, a monthly magazine for healthcare buyers in hospitals, surgery centers, and large physician clinics, later this year.
