Doha (QATAR): Following the outstanding success of its first year of joint sponsorship, Abu Dhabi-based Dolphin Energy Limited has thrown its weight behind the 2009 Commercialbank Qatar Masters. Since penning the agreement, the PGA European Tour event has been known as the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy -- and the regional energy company is geared up for even greater success in its second year of sponsorship. "Dolphin Energy was very pleased with its association with the event in 2008," said Dolphin Energy CEO Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh. "We were delighted at the official support received from HH The Emir of Qatar in personally visiting the tournament, the publicity offered to the company, and the number of top quality international golfers who not only attended, but also played superbly." Al Sayegh added that Dolphin had played a growing role in the thriving Qatari national gas industry since the company was launched in 1999. From July 2007 it had been producing, processing and supplying Qatari gas for the UAE and Omani markets. "The company is also proud of its contribution to the Qatari economy in terms of production levels, jobs for Qataris, and the international sales of valuable by-products," he added, before wishing the twelfth staging of the tournament every success. "Dolphin Energy has become a full member of the Qatar energy community, thanks to the joint support of the Qatari and Abu Dhabi authorities for this project from the very beginning. We are therefore delighted to play our part in supporting such a major international sporting event in Doha." To be played at Doha Golf Club from January 22-25, the 2009 Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy is organised by the Qatar Golf Association (QGA), the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Commercialbank. "Over the coming days we will be able to announce several of the star names who will compete for the famous Mother of Pearl Trophy," said Hassan Al Nuami, President of the Qatar Golf Association (QGA). "However, our position in world golf would not be possible without commercial partnerships so I am pleased Dolphin Energy is enjoying the benefits of our association." During the tournament week, Dolphin Energy will use the event to entertain and thank senior staff, suppliers and contractors for their support in the company's activities. "The hospitality areas at Doha Golf Club are renowned as being among the best on the Tour," said Commercialbank Group CEO Andrew Stevens. "Our family of sponsors is vitally important to all of us involved in the event and we are delighted to be able to afford them facilities that comprise a fitting vehicle for their sponsorship support."
