agami Shatters Performance Barriers for Network Attached Storage Servers by Using AMD Opteron(TM) Processors and HyperTransport(TM).

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Independent Testing Lab Confirms Industry's Highest Read Throughput Over 1 Gigabyte per Second for a Single NAS (1) See network access server.

agami Systems, Inc., a leading developer of next-generation network attached storage solutions, today announced that Veritest, an independent testing lab, confirmed that the agami AIS6000 series has achieved a new industry record by delivering read throughput of over 1GB (1000MB) per second from a single network attached storage (NAS) server. The agami Information Server (AIS) product family is based on 4P AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips. (TM) Opteron(TM) processors and AMD's Direct Connect architecture, which uses the industry-standardized HyperTransport(TM) technology.

The AIS6000 series provides up to 6X faster performance and over 10X better price/performance than leading NAS servers. These results were validated by independent testing lab Veritest Corporation (full test results available at www.veritest.com) using an "all AMD Opteron processor" configuration. The benchmark employed HP ProLiant(TM) DL145-G2 servers powered by AMD Opteron processors, to drive the benchmark for the agami Information Server at 1079.6 MB/sec sustained read throughput.

"By leveraging the AMD Opteron processor and HyperTransport data link technologies, agami has eliminated the performance bottleneck for NAS systems," said David Stiles Stiles can refer to: People

, Chief Technologist at agami Systems. "By combining our advanced software with our mainstream AMD-based hardware platform, agami provides enterprise-class storage reliability & performance at a new low price point."

"agami's benchmarks show the increasing benefit of AMD64 technology for storage," said David Rich, Director of 64-bit embedded markets Refers to custom-designed, computer-based devices and applications that perform a fixed set of tasks. It may refer to cellphones and other handhelds, network appliances (routers, access points, modems) and myriad consumer electronics products.  at AMD. "The AMD Opteron processor is well-suited to storage systems, which require especially high data throughput and low latency Low latency allows human-unnoticeable delays between an input being processed and the corresponding output providing real time characteristics. This can be especially important for internet connections utilizing services such as online gaming and VOIP - VOIP is not as important as . Scalability and performance per watt efficiencies also factor in to provide an industry-leading solution for maintaining and expanding storage capacity.

"agami is providing a true breakthrough in NAS performance," said Gary Gammon, Sr. Vice President of Enterprise Marketing, Bell Microproducts. "Our customers will benefit from AMD technologies by employing AMD Opteron processor-based storage solutions from agami Systems and servers from HP, enabling users to reap incredible price/performance for their applications."

The AIS6000 is the flagship of the agami line of high-performance information servers. The product is equipped with raw capacity of up to 19 terabytes (TB). Architected to fit in a single 5U rack-mount, 48-drive server, the AIS 6000 series provides enterprises with exceptional functionality, increased performance and capacity, and simplified management with dramatically reduced cost of ownership.
