Zygo Corporation's Simetra FTP Wins R&D 100 Award.

Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO), a world leader in interferometric measuring systems, today announced that its Simetra(TM) FTP has been granted an R&D 100 Award, recognizing it as one of the most technologically significant new products or processes of 2001. ZYGO has now won 10 R&D 100 Awards, for products including the NewView in 1994, ZMI in 1997, and MESA in 1998.

The Simetra FTP is Zygo Corporation's latest offering in a series of products specifically designed for the industrial production floor, including the NewView Delta(TM), the GPI(TM)-MPT, and the MESA(TM). ZYGO will showcase its automotive gaging line at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at Chicago's McCormick Place, September 4-11. The system's patented design employs a unique combination of 3D scanning and displacement interferometry to concurrently measure flatness, thickness, and parallelism. It provides "relational visualization" by displaying tens of thousands of data points on critical-tolerance automotive parts and assemblies, such as fuel injectors, in less than 10 seconds.
