ZyXEL Launches New WiMAX Product Line; Broadband Networking and WiFi Pioneer Delivers on the Promise of 802.16e.


CHICAGO -- Today at GLOBALCOMM in Chicago, ZyXEL Communications, Inc. announced the industry's new WiMAX product line that includes a WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

Recognized as a pioneer in DSL technology with the largest modem/router shipment in the world, ZyXEL's new WiMAX product line for the IEEE802.16e standard offers seamless integration of speed, security, QoS and ease of use. The new product line features the MAX-200 Series WiMAX CPE, a simple plug and play router designed for home users, and the MAX-100 Series, a WiMAX PCMCIA card for mobile laptop users. Both products enable service providers to deliver last mile wireless broadband access to customers as an alternative to cable and DSL and will provide a completely new and enhanced broadband wireless experience. ZyXEL's comprehensive WiMAX product line comes in several models to operate at different frequency bands including 2.5GHz, 3.5GHz and 2.3GHz.

A wireless broadband access technology is designed from the ground up for city-wide deployments. According to InStat, a leading market research firm, by 2010 there will be 40 million worldwide WiMAX subscribers. In addition, Alexander Resources, a leading research, consulting and education firm specializing in wireless communications, predicts that WiMAX will account for 4 percent of all broadband usage by that time.
