Zurick Reinsurance takes 3 floors at Chase Manhattan Plaza downtown.


Centre Reinsurance The contract made between an insurance company and a third party to protect the insurance company from losses. The contract provides for the third party to pay for the loss sustained by the insurance company when the company makes a payment on the original contract.  Company (NY) and Zurick Reinsurance Centre will relocate their corporate headquarters to 100,000 square feet at Chase Manhattan Plaza Manhattan Plaza is a large residential complex in midtown Manhattan, New York City that occupies the city block bounded north by 43rd Street, east by 9th Avenue, south by 42nd Street, and west by 10th Avenue.  in Downtown Manhattan, in a transaction orchestrated by the Edward S. Gordon Company, Inc. (ESG ESG Enterprise Strategy Group (Veritas)

ESG's asset management unit, Gordon Property Group, has spearheaded an aggressive marketing and rental program at Chase Plaza since taking over the leasing last Spring. That effort has culminated in the lease with Zurich Reinsurance - one of the largest leasing transactions in the Downtown Manhattan market in the past year.

One of the country's foremost reinsurance companies, Centre Reinsurante/Zurich Reinsurance - represented by ESG's Merrill Roth, senior managing director, and Richard Lewis Richard Lewis may be:

, associate director - will relocate some of its operations to Chase Plaza from One Liberty Plaza One Liberty Plaza is a skyscraper in lower Manhattan, New York, which resides at the location of the former Singer Building (in 1968, the second tallest building to be demolished). One Liberty Plaza is currently owned and operated by Brookfield Properties.  and Stamford, CT. The company will occupy three full floors 42 through 44 - in the 60-story office tower.

Mitchell Rudin, an ESG senior managing director and head of the Gordon Property Group, said Chase Plaza has been repositioned from a predominately owner-occupied headquarters building to a high-quality office building serving the needs of multiple prime tenants.

Chase Manhattan Bank The Chase Manhattan Bank, now part of JPMorgan Chase, was formed by the merger of the Chase National Bank and the Bank of the Manhattan Company in 1955. The bank is headquartered in New York City.  still occupies close to half of the office space in the 2.2 million square-foot tower. Other major tenants include Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, Aubrey G. Lanston, American Management Systems American Management Systems (previous NASDAQ symbol: AMSY) was founded in 1970 as a technology and management consulting firm. It was founded by a group of five former United States Department of Defense officials who worked under Robert McNamara in the Kennedy and Johnson , and the Bank of Japan.

As part of the re-positioning effort, Chase Plaza has undergone a multimillion dollar interior facelift. The lobby has been significantly upgraded, including new floors, ceilings and concierge desk, and the efficiency of elevator service has been enhanced through the installation of new elevator systems and cabs.

Four full floors, totaling 33,000 square feet each, remain available at Chase Plaza.

In addition to Rudin of the Gordon Property Group, the ESG team which represents Chase Manhattan Bank in the leasing of Chase Plaza includes Martin Turehin, vice chairman, Frank Centre, managing director, and Martha Burton, managing director.
