Ziff Davis Media Inc. Names Robert F. Callahan Chairman, President And CEO; Former ABC Broadcast Group President Takes Helm of Leading Technology Media Company.

Ziff Davis Media (Ziff Davis Media Inc., New York, www.ziffdavis.com) A leading integrated media company that serves the computer, videogame and consumer lifestyle markets. Its offerings include PC Magazine and the PCMag.com Network, which includes PCMag.com, ExtremeTech.  Inc. announced today the appointment of Robert F. Callahan to the position of Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Callahan, who was most recently president of ABC ABC
 in full American Broadcasting Co.

Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928.
 Broadcast Group, is an accomplished executive with more than 20 years experience in the media business. Callahan's appointment is effective October 1.

Career Steeped in Media

 Company, most recently serving as president of the ABC Broadcast Group where he oversaw the entire ABC TV Network division, including ABC News, ABC Sports, ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime, the 10 ABC-owned TV stations, sales, marketing and financial operations. He was also responsible for ABC Radio Networks Inc. and the 54 ABC-owned radio stations.

Before moving into television and radio, Callahan spent 10 years at Fairchild Publishing, Capital Cities/ABC's trade publishing division, where he held several senior publishing positions, including senior vice president and group publisher. In that role, Callahan oversaw the operations for 13 publications covering electronics, semiconductors, cable TV and metals industries, delivering record profits and operating margins across all sectors. Callahan also held stints as publisher of certain Fairchild publications including Electronic News and Multichannel Using two or more paths for transmission or processing. It can refer to a variety of architectures including (1) multiple I/O channels between the CPU and peripheral devices, (2) multiple wires in a cable, (3) multiple "logical" channels within a single wire or fiber or (4) multiple  News.

Before joining Fairchild, Callahan held media planning and account management positions at Wells, Rich, Greene; McCann-Erickson and Young & Rubicam.

Stein, a founding partner of Willis Stein & Partners, will continue to serve on Ziff Davis Media's board of directors. Willis Stein & Partners, one of the nation's premier private equity investment firms, acquired Ziff Davis Publishing from Ziff-Davis Inc. in April 2000.
